“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” Cicero

I’m a big advocate of research, self-sufficiency and, as indicated by the Cicero quote, reading and gardening. This blog will be dedicated to those topics as well as whatever I feel to be relevant information.

My interests are varied and eclectic. I have researched many things from chicken breeds to hydrocarbon storage, bio-remediation to horse training. When I find something I’m interested in, I study it earnestly until I feel I have a good handle on the information.

This persistence was demonstrated when my husband and I decided it was time to get another dog. I researched dog breeds until I had narrowed the choices down to a few of the best matches for our lifestyle. Once we settled on our perfect breed, I looked into different breeders and rescues. I talked to people who owned those types of dogs and got their opinions. We went to the breed’s National Convention. Some might say this was going over the top, but after two years of careful searching we found our perfect dog! (Kobe was a fully-trained young dog when we got him from a local rescue and couldn’t have been more loyal if we had had him from a puppy.)

What these experiences taught me was that there is always more information to be found if you look, and if you have possession of the facts you may find something perfect, like Kobe! Never stop learning and growing intellectually.

Information evolves throughout our lives. Methods that were once the “gold standard” become archaic and outmoded, in some cases even primitive or brutish. My hope for this blog is to provide the most relevant information available on a given subject and keep my readers happy and informed!

Constructive criticism is always appreciated (provided it is constructive and not just mean)!

This is the beginning. A new horizon. This venture may be a little daunting for me, but I am confident that I can be helpful to others. I’ll share my perspectives and some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way in the hopes they may help someone else find an easier road.

My main goal in starting this blog is to offer proofreading services to aspiring writers and bloggers. With that goal in mind, I plan to continue my own writing and put myself out there to see where it all goes. This is a new area for me, but I look forward to learning more and becoming better able to share that knowledge.

If you took the time to read this: thank you! I intend to have more interesting material to come, so stop back occasionally and say “hi”!
